Funny how life goes in circles....

Life has a way of coming back around to the things that were. Ten years ago, back at your doorstep.
Actually I have recently seen a dear friend of mine from when we were sixteen. Things have changes and some will never change.

Day 2 in New York City....

Well I must say it was a grand day.....after many rides on the subway and metro bus we managed to see a few famous sights and FAMOUS PEOPLE....and yes I did take pictures of them and with them!!The Deans even have an autograph!
About 8ish in the PM we were walking down 5th Ave and mom causually mentions she thinks there is a fashion show going on, we were like ok...well when we walked by we asked the body guards what was going on, he said he was waiting on some people to come out like...J Lo.
So we stuck around with our cameras behind the baracades and yes.....the Soprano girls came out, Janet Jackson, Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Loham, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, the Top Model models..and Harry Connick Jr, who Natalie and I took a picture with and got his autograph.
Today when my plane landed I checked out People.com and guess what their pictures were already posted from last nights event...it was wild.

I will be selling this pictures if you want....hahaa....but they will be posted on facebook soon!

It wad touch and go trying to find our hotel...which is near the airport so that I can fly out Tuesday. We listened to mom for direction...who was looking at a made up city map that got us lost into the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn. We finally made it into La Guardia. Next, it was two tries to get on the Metro bus..hahaaa then we finally made it to the square and central park.....big plans for tomorrow

Pink hands

If this does not prove that Grand Bay is the deep south....
I taught my class how to do Haiku poetry the other day.
We went outside and looked at what the fall weather produced.
Several of the students were obsessed with writing about a particular tree that caught there attention.
When we went back inside, I asked to check their Haiku when they were finished.
One girl brought her Haiku to me and I checked it, it read like this....

Pink hands all around
Fall leaves on the ground red brown
....and i forgot the third line....

Anyways I was curious about the first line...so I asked her to explain the pink hands
I thought possibly she was thinking higher than her level and was using it figuratively......
however I was wrong...
" You know Ms. Dean, you put them in a pie and bake them..pink hands"
In a second I realized that her family didn't pronounce pecans like we do.....pink hands

At least she did not spell "pee cans" !!!!

A need more sleep

Well it has been a while since I last updated. My life has been a whirlwind and really I havent cared to much to write about it. Frankly, I havent had the time. But this event calls for some venting....
I have found that at 25, life can be quite interesting. Just when you thought you had lived out some things...they come haunting you back. I guess I need to explain some more.....
Sara Jane(one of my best friends) is a professional babysitter, at least while she is in grad school. She was offered a weekend job but she was going out of town, so she passed it to me...without me knowing. So I get a random phone call asking for three sitters for a wedding ordeal of seven kids. I pulled Steph and Jessica into it with me...Im sure they hate me by now.
I have realized after keeping kids Thurs and Friday and still have today to go...that I gave this up when I was in high school and that if you are single and seem to have no life...you get stuck with these kinds of jobs. There is no way if I have a significant other or even married would I ever be stuck doing the things that I have done these last days....but the pay is good.
So I will give you a little update of the day events...

THURSDAY....
After working all day with a REAL job, Steph and I drive across the bay to sit with five children we do not know. They are from out of town and the parents have a party to attend. So two hotel rooms and hyper children...by 12:30 I was finally crawling into bed...with work at 5AM.

FRIDAY....
I arrive at 4, just getting off work at 3, to take the kids to the rehearsal(they are in the wedding)then back to the hotel with 5 of then and 2 back to Mobile. The one I was keeping wanted to go to the UMS game. So the parents let the 5 year old decide what she wanted to do....so we went to the game. Me dressed for a wedding rehearsal, Mattie the 5yr old dress in her cheerleading uniform for the Bulldogs...I was a nervous wreck. She ran all over the park, and I had to follow her. Then she found some friend and wanted to sit with her. She then told me we would leave in 10 minutes, she wanted to cheer.
I had to sit there a minute and remind myself that I was taking orders from a 5 year old.....my life is going no where! She fell asleep on the way home in the carseat i had to put in my 2 door car!!!ughgh!! Thank goodness she is a sweet kid.

So one more day of this.....I will update later.

This is going on 29 days of my car being serviced!!! I have visited ever BIG TEN in Mobile and I am sick of it. I know ever manager and ever tech...and they know me when i walk in.
I have learned a few things:
Being a single female has its pros and cons...
If its an old man manager they dont really care about what happens to you car, and they take advantage over the fact that you are a woman!
If the manager is young and single...broken things get fixed, and they fix things that just might need a newer part...without charging you.hahaaa
So maybe this monday...my car will be fixed finally!

Words can not explain...

Well here I am,actually feeling selfish, to finally have the power back on after three long hot days.My heart is completely broken for all the people along the Gulf coast states. We had a generator that kept the frig, a small fan, and the tv going for a few days. I have never been so hot in my entire life. My mind was starting to wear on me too. Ever time I wanted to complain I just looked at the tv. Those people in MS and LA are in so much pain. AL got hit hard..and we lost a lot of industries, but these are minor compared to everything else. I really cant stand it. It is horrible to see all of those state tags and to know that they have no where to go. I called the Volunteers of Mobile tonight. I am going to help people around here. I am going tomorrow to help with stations to help people stay cool with ice and water. It is the least I can do. I want to do so much more...I wish I knew about the Bilbos and the Gorman family. They have done so much for us spiritually...they have no home any more. I dont know how my professor is...he lives in Biloxi and the university has not heard from him. I am really worried.
Gas is out every where....and if you can find it...the lines are 2 hrs long...
I am going to help.
I am going to cry.
I am going to pray.

Josh I am glad your family is ok....what about your grandmothers house?

I spent the weekend with Sara Jane. We needed a break from life, and it could not have come at a better time! Nothing is more relaxing than being on a boat at the beach, and stopping at random places (that you can only get to by boat.) I had a blast! However I am not to thrilled about the raccoon eyes. Sunglasses are a plus, but not when you have white eyes afterwards.
SJ's dad caught a bunch of King Ms and it was absolutely wonderful for dinner!

Now I am back down to earth...ready for the world tomorrow! hahaaa

She claimed a red eyed thing told her to do it. She described it as tall and black and with wings. Immediately I was scared because that stupid movie came to my thoughts. This little girl was then telling me that blood was pouring out of this things eyes telling her to do things.
Camp adventures...the proposal

Alabama Youth Camp was great! Definitely better than before. The services were awesome.
Brian Crane had his shares of laughs at my expense. My week was filled with a guy following me around, he even proposed to me.....here is a short part of the conversation.

This is after Tuesday night service. I am sitting by Charlie, one of our youth who is 12, stephanie and Mendy. I had already seen this guy looking at me during the day. Then I started getting hit by gummy bears. I look up and it is him and he is laughing. Then he goes about his business. Suddenly he reappears next to Charlie.

Guy:To charle..is this your girlfriend (refering to me)
Me: I dont want to go to jail, im 25.
Guy:Im 23, would you go to jail for that.
Me:if you were under 18 (bad mistake...i guess he read that one as a go)
Guy: do you have a boyfriend?
Me:no
Guy:Why arent you married?
Me:Havent found the one yet. (way to go Kim)
Guy: (with hands raised and pointing to himself)Well here I am...call me the Chosen One..I flew down from heaven for you
Me:(shocked)
Guy: you can run a background check if you need to...i am qualified
Me: (trying to change the subject) Um...what do you do?
Guy: Im a lifeguard at a themepark in Orlando
Me: ok...what are you going to do in 30 yrs
Guy: (with no thought to it and with confindence)be a lifeguard

Need I say more... He followed me around the entire time, including devotions, some how he would manage to sit next to me, even if he asked someone to move. I was glad to leave on thursday night.

Adam...a couselor back in the day of my camper life...brought me coffee from Starbucks. that was pretty cool. Shalene said hello Andy.

It never falls....they all want to know where GRAE is.

Rain..Rain..go away...

Well had a fun evening, at least the rain went away for the go-cart race.
However the traffic was bad coming home because all the Harry Potter freaks were out getting the latest book. I missed the obsessed Star Wars fans costumes on opening night...but not the HP fans tonight. Books-A-Million in Daphne was swarming with people of all ages dressed up. I even saw a few trying to cast spells on others. On guy was walking with a broom between his legs. A little strange.
Tomorrow holds lots of excitement...next week is camp....
Life is always changing!

God works in mysterious ways...

Well the storm is for the most part over. The long waiting for it to come on shore finally arrived. I have to say that it was all of the people's prayers that slowed this storm down. Think about it...it was suppose to hit the Mobile Bay (bay of the Holy Spirit...but it did not! Then landfall was for the pensacola area with winds of up to 145(cat 4)....but suddenly before it made landfall....it slowed down to 120..still bad...but not what they thought. Then as it came over land it broke down to 105 after 60 or so miles inland. How is it that it dropped wind speed so fast before it hit land. And only a few tornados touched down. Only God! The south has been know as the Bible belt...but I think it is best known by all..as a praying area.

Wel half the clan makes the trek home tomorrow. No power at the Deans yet.

Watching and waiting

Well things are windy here in atlanta! I can only imagine the weather in Mobile.
Our "family carvan trip" was interesting and nerve-wrecking.
Four adults over the age of 80.....traveling to atlanta taking 9hrs...hhahaaa...need i say more.
The van almost blows up...we almost got mugged by the Montgomery ghetto clan..my uncle's mother hates loud noise...so i drove in silence with her..we stopped 8 millions times for a bathroom break...some man dented my car with his door.......ughh
Kinda worried about dad...he is at home, "taking care of thing". Noah, my dad's business friend is staying with him. Already the power is out...and dad tried to move the glass table by himself and it shattered, cutting his hand. He says it is minor, but he also said that when a trailer dropped on his leg.
Alaina much prayer with you...my mom is driving me nuts, I feel your pain!

I will be watching from afar at www.hurricanetrack.com. This crazy man has this wild idea to put cameras near the eye of the storm...we shall see how long they last.
Keep in touch alaina...I worry about you.
